2018 Mid-year Review

Considering it's the middle of 2018, it is time to do a review of my New Year's Resolutions.

1) Read 10 books

Here's my read list thus far:
  1. The 10-Second Rule
What I liked: There was none of the usual 'sales-talk' about the goodness of following Jesus, just some simple advice on how to allow God into one's life and work His magic.
What I disliked: Nothing much really.
  2. The Little Book of Value Investing
What I liked: Simplified language for financial novices like me to understand more about investing and what stock indicators to look out for.
What I disliked: Too simplified for those looking for a more in-depth guide on how to perform business valuation and identify value stocks.
  3. My Holiday in North Korea
What I liked: Simmons' anecdotes of her experiences in North Korea, which nearly had me burst out laughing on the train at times.
What I disliked: Not sure if it's due to cultural or language differences but I did have difficulty understanding what the author was trying to say in some parts.
  4. 30-Second Maths
What I liked: Really interesting tidbits about famous and less famous Maths theory and historical figures.
What I disliked: Due to its 30-second nature of introducing maths topics, I could not understand some of the more complicated theories.
At the moment, it looks like I can still meet my goal of reading 10 books if I maintain a reading pace of one book per month.

2) Finish CS50 on edX

Currently still on week 4 of 11 and working on pset 5. I am sorely behind on this course and will need some major catching up to do if I wish to finish it within this year.

Hopefully I will be able to complete both resolutions successfully this year!
