Just started playing Clash of Clans after having been bugged by friends to join in their clans. Here's a few starter tips gleaned from around the web and through my own experience to hopefully help you gain a better start in the game. Gems are precious commodities. Try not to waste gems rushing your base, not even during the tutorial. Don't worry, the goblins won't attack your base during the tutorial until your tower is completed. Use the initial 3 days shield to your advantage. Since most of the initial upgrades takes only a short while, try to start your game during the period of day when you have most time to play actively. Plan your mines and storage upgrades. You'll soon more resources to upgrade the various buildings. The last thing you'll want to to be stuck waiting for resources while your mines are upgrading.  That's all for the time being.
